Operation Mental Health™: Pain Is Part of the Process
Finding Strength While Navigating Career Burnout
Some seasons of life cannot be rushed.
Some battles cannot be avoided.
And some lessons cannot be learned without walking through the fire.
Today's reading from Operation Mental Health™: Practical Lessons on Career Burnout and Recovery reminds us that following Jesus Christ has never been promised to be easy. It is, however, the path that leads to life.
One sentence stood out to me as I read today:
"In your weakest moments, there is strength waiting to be tapped into."
For many Black career women and registered nurses, workplace stress can feel overwhelming.
You may be carrying discrimination.
Moral distress.
Burnout.
Fear of retaliation.
Financial pressure.
Or the exhaustion that comes from trying to do the right thing in a system that seems determined to make it difficult.
When those seasons arrive, it is easy to believe that the pain itself is evidence that you have taken the wrong path.
But what if it isn't?
What if the pain is not your destination—but part of your refinement?
Pain Should Refine You, Not Define You
Throughout Scripture, God rarely removes every difficult circumstance before asking His people to trust Him.
Instead, He walks with them through the process.
Refinement is rarely comfortable.
It stretches our faith.
It exposes our fears.
It teaches us dependence.
It develops wisdom that cannot be gained from comfort alone.
That does not mean you should remain in harmful workplace conditions or ignore injustice.
Workforce Care™ teaches something different.
We assess the situation.
We identify the root cause.
We understand our rights.
We make informed health decisions.
And we walk forward wisely.
Faith and wisdom are not competing ideas.
They work together.
Your Next Best Employee Health Decision
One line from today's reading has stayed with me:
"Let every conversation with the administration, doctor, nurse or attorney be insight into making your next best employee health decision."
That sentence captures the heart of Workforce Care™.
Every appointment.
Every meeting.
Every conversation.
Every document.
Every challenge.
Can become an opportunity to gather understanding before making your next decision.
Understanding creates options.
And options create hope.
The 10 Power Moves
As Operation Mental Health™ unfolds, you'll discover what I call the 10 Power Moves—practical lessons shaped by three decades in healthcare, two decades as a registered nurse, and years of health equity work.
They are not designed simply to help you survive career burnout.
They are intended to help you walk through it with faith, wisdom, and strategy.
Reflection
If you're in a difficult season today, don't assume God has abandoned you.
Ask Him what He is producing in you.
There may be strength you have not yet discovered.
There may be wisdom you have not yet gained.
There may be another step waiting for you to take.
Read. Comprehend. Apply.
"Ask for the good way, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls."— Jeremiah 6:16
