Career burnout competes for your attention. Don't let work become so loud that you stop hearing God's voice.
Power Move #4: Focus
Career Burnout Competes for Your Attention
"Do not ignore the burning bush. The fire will not consume you if you submit to finish the race."
One of the greatest consequences of career burnout isn't simply exhaustion.
It's distraction.
When we're coping with workplace stress, injury, fear, discrimination, or uncertainty, our attention becomes consumed by what feels most urgent.
The next shift.
The next deadline.
The next paycheck.
The next confrontation.
The next doctor's appointment.
Before long, our circumstances begin directing our attention more than God does.
That is why Power Move™ #4 is Focus.
Focus Is More Than Concentration
Most people think focus means eliminating distractions.
Biblically, focus begins with recognizing when God is trying to get your attention.
When Moses saw the burning bush, Scripture tells us that he turned aside to see.
He interrupted his routine.
He stopped.
He paid attention.
Only then did God speak.
The burning bush wasn't meant to consume Moses.
It was meant to call him.
Spiritual Awareness Changes Everything
How many times has God tried to get our attention while we were too busy surviving work?
A verse that won't leave your mind.
A conversation you didn't expect.
A burden that continues to grow.
A conviction you can't explain.
A closed door.
An unexpected opportunity.
Sometimes we dismiss these moments because they don't fit our plans.
Sometimes we ignore them because they feel inconvenient.
Other times, we're simply too exhausted to notice.
Career burnout narrows our attention until we become consumed by the immediate problem instead of remaining attentive to God's presence.
Focus is choosing to stop long enough to ask,
"Lord, what are You trying to show me?"
Don't Walk Past Your Burning Bush
Moses could have kept walking.
The bush would have remained there.
But history would have been different.
Focus requires submission.
Submission requires trust.
Trust requires faith.
Not every interruption is a distraction.
Some interruptions are divine invitations.
What keeps returning to your attention?
What won't leave your spirit?
Perhaps it isn't there to distract you.
Perhaps God is calling you to turn aside.

Jeremiah warned God's people:
"But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward."— Jeremiah 7:24 (KJV)
Career burnout has a way of pulling our attention away from God's voice and toward fear.
Power Move™ #4 reminds us to resist that pull.
Don't let work become so loud that you stop hearing God.
The fire isn't meant to destroy you.
You are being called.
Submit to Him.
Finish the race He has set before you.
