Career burnout may threaten your peace, but your protection isn't found in a paycheck—it's found in God's covering.

Power Move #5: Protect

There Are No Other Safety Nets. Career Burnout Protection

"Put yourself in a position to be covered by God. There are no other safety nets."

Career burnout has a way of convincing us that our security comes from the things we can see.

A steady paycheck.

Health insurance.

A respected title.

Years of service.

A retirement account.

A good manager.

These things have value, but none of them can promise tomorrow.

Many employees discover this the hard way.

One meeting.

One injury.

One diagnosis.

One restructuring.

One act of discrimination.

One signature.

Everything changes.

That is why Power Move™ #5 is Protect.

Before You Protect, Remember What You've Learned

The first four Power Moves™ prepared us for this moment.

Risk taught us to trust God enough to leave what is comfortable.

Thought reminded us to listen for His voice and seek His wisdom before making important decisions.

Vision challenged us to stop chasing our own plans and begin walking toward what God has shown us.

Focus taught us not to ignore the burning bush—to stop long enough to recognize when God is calling our attention.

Now that God has your attention…

Now that He has given you direction…

Now that He has shown you His vision…

There is something worth protecting.

What Are You Protecting?

Protect your relationship with God.

Protect your peace.

Protect your integrity.

Protect your health.

Protect your purpose.

Protect your ability to hear His voice.

Career burnout doesn't usually take these things all at once.

It asks for them one decision at a time.

One compromise.

One ignored conviction.

One fear-based decision.

One more day of believing your employer is your source.

Until eventually, you begin trusting the system more than the One who called you.

God's Covering Is Not Passive

Protection is not passive.

It requires positioning.

Psalm 91 begins with a condition:

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."— Psalm 91:1 (KJV)

The promise is given to the one who dwells.

Who remains.

Who abides.

Who stays close to God.

His covering isn't found in a company policy.

It isn't found in an employment contract.

It isn't found in a job title.

It is found in His presence.

Read. Comprehend. Apply.

Career burnout often causes employees to place their hope in systems that cannot ultimately protect them.

Power Move™ #5 reminds us to put ourselves in a position to be covered by God.

There are no other safety nets.

Trust Him.

Remain with Him.

Allow Him to direct your steps.

Protect what He has entrusted to you.
